Hey Mountain Lions!

Sorry for the little MIA period to finish off the year, but we got yet another Local Sound... Semester?

That's right, for the last post of the semester we wanted to highlight the folks that make everything possible which are you guys! So we just threw together some of our favorite photos from both the Spring Shred Fest and the Vinyl Painting event. Both of which were absolute bangers, and we can't wait to throw them again next year!

As for our summer plans, UCCS Radio will be semi dormant over the next few months. With summer jobs and plans it tends to be a little hard to keep up with everything going on in the local scene. Thus, Local Sound Saturday will be on pause until the fall semester, and other posts will likely be pretty sparce. Of course, we will still post some stuff to our story for UCCS events and some potential colabs but likely we will be in the background this summer.

But stay on your toes! Because next year we plan to be back with bigger and better plans, posts, events, giveaways, etc. For example we are already planning our 2026 Battle of the Bands to knock your socks off come October 👻

So even though we may be quiet this summer, we are far from dead... so watch out for next semester mountain lions...🎸

kicking off our show is an acoustic set from CRICKETS, a project from anguel of the legendary @lobsterfight

following that we have UCCS's own JULIE doing an acoustic set @jul13.wav

then we have STEREO ONTARIO, a psychedelic rock band from right here in colorado springs!! @stereoontario

ending the gig we have our good friend EXXOTIK, playing a DJ set! @exxotik.music

we will have A LOT of pizza. so come eat, play some cornhole, and listen to some music from some amazing local talent!! music at noon! SEE YOU THENNNN

Hey mountain lions!

We super excited to announce our spring shred fest happening this year! It will take place on may 2nd at 12-4 PM. It’ll be an outdoor concert also held at the UC upper plaza.

It’s absolutely free to attend and there will be a slew of local bands rocking out to celebrate shred fest with us 🤘

Hopefully we will see all of you there this Saturday!

Hey Mountain Lions, hopefully you are all enjoying

Hey Mountain Lions, hopefully you are all enjoying vinylthon, but you already know we had to still show off some local music...

This weeks feature is @nvr_endvr

NVR ENDVR was formed in late 2024, originally being formed by the frontman, Jake, as a way to get free beer and into shows for free. But eventually evolved into a 4 piece band creating some badass hardcore/prog rock. When asked what inspires their band and music NVR ENDVR said it is inspired by everyone and everything, their catalog includes political songs, songs about “mfers getting on your nerves”, and many others. Safe to say, it’s a little hard to pinpoint what exactly inspires NVR ENDVR.

NVR ENDVR has quite the interesting catalog they may have an even more interesting catalog of stories. On specifically, was stealing a headline show all the way in Amarillo, Texas. After dropping Trapt from their headline, the venue offered NVR ENDVR to headline and they accepted. This resulted in driving 9 whole hours on short notice to play one hell of a show in Texas. To add on this, this was September 11th last year... which were some interesting times to say the least.

Outside of driving half way across the country to steal a headline, NVR ENDVR has some big plans for 2026. Firstly, they are dropping a single titled “Elysium” on May 22nd. This is right after they headline the death slope musical festival on May 21st. Which I gotta say, looks to be one badass festival so you might want to plan a last minute trip to go see it live. Or don’t, we can’t control you missing out on a once in a lifetime festival...

If you would want to listen to NVR ENDVR or other local bands tune into “Local Saturday” at radio.uccs.edu as we play music from all our favorite local Colorado bands all day every week.

Huge thank you to NVR ENDVR for working with us and giving us some stories to spread across the Colorado Springs local scene, speaking of the local scene YOU ALREADY KNOW WE WILL BE BACK NEXT WEEK FOR ANOTHER BAND!
